- At the activity center, there's always arguing over the bikes. Here, I have it to myself and can cycle whenever it suits me, says Liv Breistein.
Even though she is in her 93th year, she is as focused on staying fit as ever. However, her outdoor walks have become less frequent lately due to her somewhat weakened legs.
That's when the bike and Motiview became the solution.
On the bike every day
Twice a week, she is at the Bergen Red Cross Activity Center. There, Motiview has been a popular activity for many years, and Liv has been one of the most enthusiastic cyclists. But with Motiview and a bike at home, she now has daily sessions.
- I cycle 6 kilometers every day. I can feel it doing something to my body. I often wake up stiff in the morning, but then I take a bike ride. It's amazing how it loosens up. I think that's really good, says the 93-year-old from Bergen, Norway.
Liv also uses her arms when she cycles and believes it has had a good effect.
- I’ve had some trouble opening bottle caps on soda and milk cartons. But now I can do it, she smiles.
- So cycling definitely helps me do more. Many people could benefit from it.
Forgets that she is cycling
The large video library is also important for Liv, whether she is cycling at home or at the activity center.
- It goes so much faster when you watch a video. Suddenly you're done. You hardly notice you're cycling because there's so much to see and talk about, says Liv, who likes best to cycle to nature films from the west coast and the northern parts of Norway.
Her son Bjørn has noticed that cycling has had an effect on Liv recently.
- Mom has always exercised and been active. But in recent years, her legs have become weaker, and the walks have become fewer. I see that cycling has made her more mobile again.
He also believes the video library has more benefits than just being something pleasant to rest your eyes on while cycling.
- It's a great way to exercise the brain – remembering places you've been before and bringing back memories, says Bjørn, who gladly takes a ride with his mother to familiar places.
